These earrings are handmade by the native people in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru. They are made with chambira, “jungle rope” sourced from vines and with special beads hand picked by members of the Shipibo Tribe.

The Shipibo-Conibo Tribe is an indegineous tribe originating from the Ucayali River in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru. The Ucayali River is the main headstream of the Amazon River, totaling 2,670 KM, stemming from the many tributaries from the Andes Mountains. There is still an active population of the Shipibo Tribe totaling up to 40,000. The majority of the Shipibo population live in the jungle city of Pucallpa and the surrounding Yarinacocha district, deep in the Amazon Rainforest, in communities that are only accessible by boat. This indegenious tribe still speaks their native tongue and their traditions and culture spans thousands of years.
